yah so i completely forgot to mention that when i was chattng with igor-hadsimajlovic the other night, he told me they just signed on a new space-- it's the old MaryLous/Oceans21 on 9th street.

GREAT space. except it's down in the basement. and there's no outdoor cafe/garden thingie. and the liquor license is only until 1AM

but igor said it's not going to be another EO, it's more "fine dining"

he says it's all the original boys plus the main investor again (billy-conklin ??)

i must say i LOOOVED Oceans21. the all of 38 and 1/2 seconds it lasted i mean.

i heard michael-ciccoriccho and the chef got into serious beef with the owner and bounced. what a stupid owner whoever he is.

i was there twice a week the three weeks it lasted and adrien-brody and patrick-ewing and all the faboolous modelly models and oldschoolers were there but it was all D.L. none of the morons had a clue.

i ran into igor-hadzsimajlovic again the other day

apparently they're shooting for a september opening (ha ! you didn't read THAT in grub street).

still no name though.

oh and i know for a fact lots of people were looking at that space (i sent two peoples over myself no joke) but apparently the landlord liked the EO boys and i guess that's how they scored it, so good for them.

oh and evidently hadzsimajlovic is pronounced:

hodge - is - smile - oh - vitch

as in don't forget: "there's a smile in the middle"

you know like this ----> hodge - is - smile.gif - oh - vitch

"WEST VILLAGE—The rumor about Employees Only taking over the Marylou’s space on Ninth Street and Sixth Avenue, which first surfaced on PX This, was confirmed by Cutlets today. The restaurant, which will be named Zeppelin, is "months" away. Next up for the EO folks (after Zeppelin, of course): an eatery that will serve the cuisine of Macao. Interesting. [Cutlets]"

QUOTE
Getting information out of the staff of Employees Only is much, much harder that getting drinks out of them — but we were able to extract two interesting bits of information out of bartender and co-owner Jason Kosmas. The first is that E.O.’s new spinoff restaurant on West 9th Street now has a name to go along with its forties theme (which, we are told, will include period costumes for the entire staff). It will be called Zeppelin and is still “months away” from opening. The other tidbit, though vague, was intriguing.
Apparently Zeppelin is not the only restaurant the E.O. guys have in mind. Just over the horizon is another project, with neither a space nor a name, but with a fantastic concept: the cuisine of Macao, the former Portuguese colony which, along with Hong Kong, was one of the two independent regions in China until 1999. The food of Macao is one of the great hybrid cuisines in the world, borrowing wholesale from both Portugal — sausages, potatoes, olive oil — as well as mainland China and Hong Kong, and the vanishing traditions of pre-Communist restaurant cookery. We could never figure out why no one had done a Macanese restaurant here, and as it turns out neither could the E.O. guys. Apparently, now that Macao is fading as a tourist destination for luxury hotels and baccarat casinos, its cuisine needs saving more than ever.

uh huh

yah so is the "cuisine" of the philippine islands (just a hop skip and jump from Macau)-- it's a spanish/asian hybrid.

you know why THAT cuisine has never "hit it big" here (even though it's been around for fucking ever) ??
cuz it sucks dick.

but whatever. good luck with all that

Seriously, what's up with that???? You would think people would be happy when you talk about them, esp if you say nice things about it.

yah so anyways

it turns out the macao cuisine thingie was "a tentative partnership deal that fell through..."

so. no macao cusine after all.
( the culinary world laments the loss, i'm shur rolleyes.gif )

and Zeppelin is shooting for a september opening, BUT "you know how construction goes..."

and evidently their chef is a former sous of Chanterelle.

oh and the name Zeppelin comes from: "deshon always wanted to name a place the Zeppelin Club"

in case you were wondering.

yah so

i hear Zeppelin aint anywheres near the "september opening" they were shooting for. supposedly they haven't even started construction yet ??

their new speculation is january 2008.

i wouldn't exactly bet the farm on this one though. cuz maybe their lame assed publicist is making them lie out their faces to anyone who even pretends to give a shit-- the fuck i know.

whatever
in case you were wondering.
