ummmm....maybe you could put some characters up? Are the Boston peeps representing on your board or are they too scared to pipe up??? i'm not sure. unless there's "boston" in the display name (like "bostongirl") and/or e-mail address, i really couldn't say. being "scared" is understandable. as you can see, a lot of the NYers are "scared" too. punkasses Alls i know is we didn't start rolling that snoball down the mountain on our blog out of concern for people's true feelings - this might be too much yellow snow to start here in your house..... um hmmm i don't know quite what to tell you. i started this place fully prepared to step in and "moderate" if necessary. it certainly is much easier if you are at least familiar with the "characters" being discussed. i don't mean to sound self-important or some shit but i do think it could potentially become quite a responsibility. |

I think the Beehive has got some serious talent on the roster...I just hope they can deal with the volume. Can you imagine being a server on that patio?? For fucks sake, I think I'd kill myself. Then again, I could always walk into the bar and take a look at Josh Childs, and then Mama, the whole world would be ok.
On to more pertinent matters: Patrick Connelly is one of the most talented chefs I've had the privledge of working with. There's no juice on him because for YEARS he was dating the same girl (Adrian) and just recently broke up (and lost about 50 pounds). He's quite delicious...and anyone who likes Wilco is a friend of mine. He shared sous chef responsibility with William Kovel for quite awhile until Chef McHottie moved out to London. Kovel is now at Aujourd'hui. He and Bricky-poo are keeping it real and who doesn't love those bubbles? From what I understand Schlow is completely off the scene at Radius (well, he has been for years...funny stories about him another time), so PC took the reigns as exec chef. Talk about paying your dues...boy worked with 'em all. Ask Gabriel Frasca, Brian Reimer or The Greenes what they think about him...nothing but love. Kid can cook. What other coming up in the ranks friend can I expose...seems like all the kids I've grown up with in this biz are making good...I love me some young folks who take this shit seriously and respect their elders. Oh yeah, BTW, any ideas about why Sage in SoWa (sorry, it just sounded so NYC) hasn't received much press?? Could it be that JACKASS, tongue-ring wearing, ex-aberfuckme model, head-up-his-seven-jeans-wearing-ass manager they have working could ALREADY have pissed everyone off?? I love Tony, but c'mon...having a blonde Derek Zoolander as your manager aint gonna get you anywhere good. Whew. |

ahahahahahahhah!
I could be the "Dirty Rice" portion of the Full Comp!!!!! That said, I wouldn't want to be responsible for making the full comp exactly what all us industry folks don't want to see it become - dirty gossip. I love the integrity you all have shown in your blogs and I would hate to see you deviate from that beautiful mission statement you have. I'd love to be part of your show boys and girls...but can't risk my staff finding out their fearless leader is a smut loving blogger!! Now for some tea and crumpets: I couldn't agree more about Brian Reimer... damn if that boy hasn't come into his own over at Daniel. Watching him work in that kitchen brought a tear to my maternal eye. Shit, that kids like a brother to me. Hey Lookee - two people from the boston scene who haven't slept together!! Brian get's offers constantly to leave Daniel and open his own place, I think he's got investors lined up through Central Park to help him out. Will watch that closely. The jackass referred to at Sage is a kid named Mike. He drives a yellow Lexus and inccesantly flicks his tongue ring back and forth. He managed Restaurant L and did such a hack job with the wine list that MS Walker actually refused to sell to him. How badly to you have to fuck up to make a distributor stop selling to you?? I heard he was a manager of the new Sage and almost called Tony myself to protest. Maybe he's not the manager and just waiting tables?? Smell you later, kids. Have fun with Brick and Kovel! It's genius.
Everyone keeps guessing and guessing...if I had a dollar for every name I've heard thrown in the ring...everybody has a theory. Point is - who cares who's doing the actual writing? With so many people fact checking and writing in with ideas it's sort of like it's everyone's blog. Interesting, no? I'm just psyched that it's gone beyond people talking about it at the Eastern Standard bar and become something more...Shit man, Danny Meyer??? |
