I'm actually glad that it seems we've steered clear of Tailor here (what else is there to say about it? rolleyes.gif ) but it seems it's actually going to open pretty soon.

The comments are ridiculous. I said it once, and I'll say it again: Non-industry *foodies* are so fucking weird.

what can i say
umm
well. lemme put it this way:

i think there's a few little things a GOOD restaurant consultant could point out that would improve things right from the get-go.

but nobody ever thinks they need one a them mutherfukkers. cuz everybody's so fucking smart.

"Hey. Here's a tip: I heard there is this new place called "Tailor". Supposed to be pretty hip. Maybe you guys should give it some coverage? I don't see anything about it on here... By Tailor Made for Eater at September 14, 2007 1:21 PM"

I think there's a few little things even a really shitty restaurant consultant could point out that would improve things right from the get-go.

(I didn't try the food yet, either.)

ANYWAYS

yah so. i kinda want to discuss Tailor

'cept that when i tried to go for dinner monday night, it was CLOSED. yes i said closed. on a monday. night. [LureSushi just a few blocks away was PACKED and SLAMMIN that very same night. newly opened Centro's anne-burrell up until LaborDay didn't have a single day off in like 46 days straight or some shit.
but whatever. i'm just sayin.]

i am really trying not to say anything too negative cuz i sooooooo don't want to jump on any Tailor Bashing Bandwagon.
but of course i'm wary of saying anything nice too cuz i really don't want to join the notorious Eater.com Sam Mason Blowjob Brigade either.

so i will just leave it (honestly and objectively) at this:
the more i hear about Tailor, the less i want to try it. (and i'm a big TRYER kind of person, my ass is out at least six nights a week that's not an exaggeration.)

so. i think a semi-cognitive owner/operator would eventually have to ask him/herself: WHY IS THAT, EXACTLY ?

[or better yet, ask me. but it'll cost ya ! and it won't be pretty either seeing as it's so late in the game. or don't, it's your dime. woooooooo LOTS and LOTS of dimes i can hear them suckers spilling out the windows from here.]

Uh yea, I also saw the comment about Ann Burrell as a commendation of the chef; not an endorsement of the restaurant. And also as a rhetorical question, as well. As in, why does a new restaurant need to close on Monday nights? Even if the owner is also the chef.

ETA: That is very impressive and admirable, about Chef Burrell. That shows real dedication.

...buried in Sam Mason's crotch?

At least whan Abbe talks about Centro (which she actually doesn't do nearly as much as she could) we know she's Sasha Muniak's girlfriend. What's Eater's excuse for all their unobjective ass sucking?

Plus, if Abbe gives her opinion about places, at least we also know it's because she has experience and she's a professional restaurant consultant. When Eater talks, they're blowing smoke. 90% of their info comes from anonymous tips. rolleyes.gif

OH and before you go thinking it was a "private function" or some shit

it wasn't. i know cuz i was so incredulous it was closed i yanked on the door so hard this poor lonely woman unlocked the front door and stuck her head out. and she disctinctly said to me "it's closed on mondays" and then she gave me the business card.

i'm just sayin.
mss
hee hee i was there the other monday and it was closed. for a private (media) party. which we (and another party of 4) only found out once inside - why not put a sign?

had eaten there before that night though (pretty good) but we were actually coming back for drinks - the first time we were there was before they got their license

That's just rent. Not to mention that most of the top-tier emps are on salary anyway. Unless they're short-staffed, and the extra days strats building overtime, it's generally not a good idea to close for one day a week. Ya can't make money if the doors are locked!
