I mean, come on......a chart? A color coded graph? When are we going to stop giving these critics and reviewers so much power. Tuck 'em back in, boys....you're all huge!

It just goes to show that all the critics are so full of shit. They either agree with each other, or they don't, but in the end, it's all bullshit. Once you read one after the other, it becomes so obvious that none of them know what the fuck they are talking about.

A chart? rolleyes.gif Anyone who would pick a restaurant based on looking at a chart, is the epitome of a clueless douche bag.

You are soooo right. And may I commend you on the appropriate use of the term 'douchebag'! tongue.gif

I am with ya on that one....those critics can kiss my ass. So much salary wasted on such bullshit. This review crap is for gossip only. Sad.

Can we start with the NYT?

They do it to sell newspapers, at the expense of another man's livelihood. That's what's such bullshit about it.

The worse part of it is, they're usually wrong.

AND....do you know how many times people are placed in specific positions in a new restaurant just to "spot the critic" or "wait on the reviewer"?
Stephen Starr put one of his best servers from Philly up in a hotel when he first opened Morimoto so he could wait on the critics & I know several places recently opened that hired someone (who recognizes them) specifically to run the door (to alert the kitchen/floor managers) when the reviewers sneak in.
So it's not as if their reviews are ever really accurate.

did anyone here post a comment about morandi at eater.com? why is asking about morandi mean that the person is a member of this forum? & even if someone from here did post that question, why shouldn't they ask since it's a valid question? so if we are members of this forum, we aren't allowed to comment at eater, even though they say things about px all the time? when one of their commenters posted here, we weren't mean to that person so i don't get why they are so hostile towards us. esp since we know for sure now that the chef at morandi was the one being such a jerk? it's great that abbe always takes it in stride but this is getting annoying. angry.gif

Who cares what some jackhole who has to sign their name "Anonymous" has to say, ya know? When I read those posts on Eater.com, it just sounds like douchebag faux foodies intellectually masturbating all over themselves anyway. They consider themselves the foremost authorities on everything food, but I doubt many have done more than sit on their asses swirling wine most of their careers.

rolleyes.gif Sounds like someone is upset, because no one here gives a shit about Morandi. We haven't even talked about it in months.

If even that much. Eater.com is a restaurant blog for outsiders, not insiders. They're clueless reviewers, just like all the other clueless reviewers.

Eater is good sometimes for basic information. They have a pretty good hold on what spaces are opening and closing, which can be useful for people that work in F/B, in terms of what the competition is up to or to find spaces that will soon be available that can come already well-equipped. But when it comes to solid F/B knowledge, it's obvious they fall short. It's also obviously biased, anyone who works in F/B can see right away how they're just not well-informed. However, it doesn't seem like it's Eater's intention to be insightful, it's a website that gathers information from other sources all in one place.

Look on the bright side! The coverage of PX on Eater has been very entertaining. Like I said, it's obvious that Eater is biased, but it sure is interesting to watch it all play out. The tug-of-war is prob the best thing that's happened to them in months. Like I said, the people who work in F/B have solid knowledge so there's no question what the real deal is. You can't blame Eater for wanting to play with the 'cool kids'. cool.gif

Maybe so but it still amazes me how these foodie sites like eater.com seem to go out of their way to alienate the very industry that they are reporting on.

That's because they aren't really reporting on the industry, but the product that the industry puts out. They're not concerned with what goes on behind the scenes, thay're part of the PR package. Any info that contradicts the carefully PR-crafted brand is a threat to them. wink.gif
