Holy shit! Did they actually close the place because of this???? Does anyone know how accurate this inspection process is...the reason I ask is that the Waverly Inn got a 22 with "evidence of live mice in the food supply" MK does not have anything about 4 legged animals at all and got a 31.

I could be wrong, but I thought 28 points is when they shut you down. And I thought any evidence of rodents is automatically 50 points. And yeah, is Mercer closed? That's also news to me.

That question i asked may be taken the wrong way...sorry about that. I am curious if they did indeed close it for a day or even an afternoon until complience was met... it failed. But then again....22 with live mice doesn't get closed??????

Funny you say that cause I won't eat there anymore (for a long time anyway). They got inspected again and got a 40. Live insects in food or around food supply this time! ohmy.gif Yuck. http://167.153.150.32/RI/web/detail.do?met...onDate=20080531

I realize that critters are hard to keep at bay, but once I know this sort of info...it makes me squirm.

I hate to admit that I am witnessing the deteriorization of once fabulous restaurant. Now I see why his peers never pick him for Restaurantier at the Beards.

I will also admit (though you probably figured this out already), that I don't eat at restaurants based on whether they are the "in" places to be. I have my regulars and this place was one of them.

Now it's official. It is Murder Kitchen for real. One can get really sick from eating contaminated food.

A really damn shame. If they have changed management in the past year or so, they need to get their old manager back in there. (I thought I heard this somewhere).

They scored lower the second time around? huh.gif rolleyes.gif

Now I wish I knew what the official ordinance is, because I thought it was at 28 points that they shut you down.

dry.gif Like what?

They have James Gersetn running all the operations, and he didn't have any previous responsibilities with JG. The menu should already be worked out - it's Spice Market! Not the most difficult of concepts to execute, and it's not like the flagship JG staff is being used to fly out to all the new locations. And all the architecture is being handled by W Hotels.

I know a friend that literally found a worm squirming in her salad at Mercer. And this was years ago.

When she complained to Mgmt, they told her it's because they only use organic lettuce without pesticides. She snapped back, "That doesn't mean you don't have to wash the leaves!" laugh.gif rolleyes.gif

Gersetn has nothing to do with the NYC operations, thats JGM.

He is strickly CCbJG...........its a seperate partnership.
Historicly the staff at the JG flagship are recruited to train any new locations..........so I quess they are training the Starwood management team (Train the Trainers)

The thining of a brand is starting to show itself

The NYC operations are being run outside of CCbJG, then this doesn't have to be!!! The owner shouldn't have to be there to make sure the place is clean. (I'm still pissed at him though) He probably doesn't even know about the 40 from the DOH (?)

JGs got a 25....I will personally put my hands around his neck and shake the hell of of him if he lets that place go down the tubes!!!! He used to keep a tidy kitchen so I am hoping to God this is just a bad period at the Trump. I love that little glass dining room and the food that is served there for $60.00 a person at lunch. (average). Best deal in town. And I see him in there more often then those stupid critics cause I eat there more then they do.

Dammit JG!!! Put your employees on salary and get them off of hourly wages(like Keller did at PerSe), get your ass home to NYC and clean up these places!!! Give back to NYC-the place where you made your name! angry.gif

Is there anyone who reads this forum know how this inspection process works? For real. I am curious because I see so many contractictions on their website for what constitutes failing at a 28. Some have live critters running around and pass and others who do not, still fail...

Yeah, I'm actually getting confused myself. But it might have to do with how many times a place has been inspected and/or failed. They're probably given a certain amount of time to make improvements, and if they don't pass again, then they get closed?

It does seem like the rules keep changing.....
