To be fair, Naeem does "know" people (and therefore might not be a bad doorman, unlike alot of the other clueless asshats working the doors these days). Whether they will drag themselves to his small, LES, bottle-service nightclub for him is a whole other story.

I haven't been to 1OAK, Butter (lately) or G-Spa, and I actually.... uh.... well, I have nothing against them.

Naeem seems like an ok guy, but this place will be hard to succeed because people are tired of shitty clubs. Noone cool goes out any more.

Honestly, when I was reading this yesterday, I didn't care about this at all, except to wonder, "Is that the same Naeem I'm thinking of?" I mean seriously, who the hell cares about some new crappy club that sounds exactly the same as all the rest of the crappy clubs? It's not like this is anything we haven't heard of before.

Then I came across this on Grub Street, and I noticed it had 76 comments, so I clicked on it.

I have no clue who Matt Levine is, and even though I think I know who Naeem is, I don't know him that well, but I have heard about him.

Now I just feel sorry for them. Obviously, they are just some guys that think that they have some original idea (they don't) and are trying to open their little club on the LES. So what? Who cares?

The way these commenters go on about it is ridiculous. If they (like I) don't want to go there, then just don't go. What is the point of going on a blog to slam it in the comments section? They all sound 10 times stupider than anything that Matt Levine said in that interview. All they make me want to do is give that club the benefit of the doubt, even if it doesn't deserve it, because it's so obvious that none of them even have any idea what they're talking about and they're just bitter.

So I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I love you guys!

I enjoy reading comments if they are intelligent but unfortunately 95% of the time it's snarky bitter people 'hating' just because they can without any repercussions. It would be nice if they all finally got the drift that all their anonymous nonsensical negativity only has the effect of making other readers more sympathetic toward whatever they're hating on in the first place.

But don't get me wrong. I'm all for focused hatred on subjects that actually deserve it. Geez is it too much to ask to see more intelligent and articulate hating?

In the club's defense, I was there last month and they had one of the derelicts from Piss & Fly playing the flute.
And the flute had lights on it.
So I wouldn't say the place lacks creativity.

Unfortunately, they got it backwards. According to the legend, you play the flute if you want the rats to follow you out of town. The last time I was on the LES, I could tell that the rats aren't going anywhere, anytime soon.

It's pretty disgusting and sad, but if I were Abbe, I wouldn't worry about it. Just think about how miserable a person has to be to put that much effort into being that hateful. The fact that person is so unhappy is what makes him want to make other people unhappy. Misery loves company. One of my ex-girlfriends was the exact same way.

Worse than the hatred is the stupidity. The comment alone is screaming how stupid he is. Just pity the guy. Imagine if you had to go through life being that stupid. He's so stupid, he doesn't even realize how stupid he is.
